We only traveled ~18nm today, but it is one of the most intense sections of our trip. NY Harbor is a busy place, but it was a safe trip in with no surprises. We had read that it is possible to anchor in the upper bay, just west of Liberty Island. When we arrived we found two other sailboats already anchored, and were happy to be just a bit north of them, outside of the submerged cable area. There are some boat wakes rocking us a bit, but less than expected given the amount of ferry boat traffic. The view here is amazing, with the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island in close proximity to us. The broader view includes the Manhattan skyline, Brooklyn and the Brooklyn Bridge, the Verrazzano Bridge, Jersey City, Govenors Island, and the East River. We expect the light south wind to continue through the night, and will be up early to catch the tidal ride up the Hudson River. More pictures to come as the daylight fades.

Great photos. This is on my bucket list!
