A great west wind pushed us most of the way to Patuxent River today. Despite the 5-10kt forecast, we spent much of the day reefed and going as fast as we can hope for under sail. A comfortable ride with a nice breeze keeping us cool. Our first encounter with dolphins while under only sail power, and they seemed more inclined to swim along with us. We’re now tucked in well off the Chesapeake on Mill Creek, with (finally) no storms on the immediate horizon. Last night we had little impact from either front, and all thunder and lightning seemed a safe distance away. More planning of next steps, and despite our loss of time at the start of the trip, we are hoping to still visit the dismal swamp.
