It’s not unusual to be awakened in the morning by the sound of a duck or other bird wandering around the cockpit or decks. I still investigate any unusual boat noises …though at 5AM I’m less excited about it. As I write this, and for the past hour, there has been a squirrel on deck. Although somewhat close to shore, the squirrel certainly did not leap from a tree. I’m assuming it went for a swim and climbed the anchor rode or outboard, but not sure why it was inspired to be in the water on this cold, rainy morning in the first place.
Although it took some convincing, the squirrel reluctantly departed and swam safely to shore.
