With the only exceptions being speed and direction. Our anchorage was well protected from the east, and east winds were forecast through last night and today. They shifted north unexpectedly early this morning …and gusts were well over 30kts, despite the updated forecast still saying east 10-15kts. Plenty of rain, too. The decreasing winds finally came after 2pm, so a rough morning. But the sun finally came out …and we (almost surprisingly) recovered our anchor, which we may need to now pay import duties on. We spent the morning trying to pick our next destination, and with our late departure settled on Mariner’s Marina, about 10mi further down the ICW. The wind even cooperated enough for us to get in a nice sail. Mariner’s is a very nice spot with mostly sailboats and great protection …and our first experience tying up to pilings. More high winds in the forecast delaying our hop to Cape May, so we might be here a few nights. Happy now to be relaxing in the sun.
