Historic Ships

Due to the high heat we decided to spend a second night in Baltimore. There are many things to see and places to visit, but we decided to skip the long lines at the aquarium and visit the historic ships in the inner harbor. The USS Constellation is here, an all-sail warship launched in 1854. Lightship 116 ‘Chesapeake’ was one of the lightships which was used as a navigation beacon before being replaced by a permanent lighthouse structure. The 1936 USCGC Taney is also here, as well as the WWII era submarine USS Torsk. All are open to explore, and it is a great way to learn about the different ships. The USS Constellation just fired its parrot gun again as I was writing this. It missed.
