Yesterday we decided to head over from our anchorage to the Farley State Marina in Atlantic City. Winds were expected to pick up, so we had some time to wait out on the NJICW until we could make the journey north from Manasquan. We’d found out the prior day that Tommy James and the Shondells would be playing, so it seemed like things we falling into place. Before going to our slip we stopped at the fuel dock, and were surprised to see right there in the harbor was a graveyard of several abandoned sailboats. More surprising was that one of them was another Westerly Centaur …the third other we’d seen on our trip (and by far in the worst condition). Were actually able to walk over to her at low tide, and despite being sad, it was educational, as so much had been cut out of the boat that you could learn about the construction. We had plenty of time that day to visit the rooftop pool at the casino, and visit a couple of the restaurants before the show. Tommy James made ‘Mony mony’ and ‘I think we’re alone now’ hits in the 60’s long before the 80s versions that I grew up with (Billy Idol/Tiffany). My favorite song, though, was ‘Crimson and clover’ … which he, of course, also played. It was a great show, and he stayed around after signing autographs and meeting fans until after midnight.
