We had another nice sail north this morning, stopping traffic at two bascule bridges on the way to Metedeconk (muh tee duh konk) River. Fortunately we met someone yesterday who could help us with the pronunciation. On our way north we saw a very large fleet of sailing dinghies to the east, pictured below. We’re now anchored to the west of Eagle Point, on the south side of the river, in Kingfisher Cove. Most of the shoreline is lined with waterfront homes, but there is some marsh here, so we’re not right in anyone’s ‘back yard’. There is a local pirate ship that has been making constant trips out into the river today. Impressively, and to the delight of the passengers, they have found treasure every time. South winds have picked up, as predicted, but there’s good protection here and with temperatures back in the 90s we’re happy to have the wind. We will likely spend tomorrow night here as well, waiting for the better ocean conditions expected on Thursday.

Pirates….did you exchange cannon shots?
Fortunately not. They were too busy with face painting and searching for treasure to load the cannon! It was a busy crew. They did 7 voyages per day, and with a mast with no sails their speed was impressive.
